SUMMARY

The Assistant Buyer assists with selecting merchandise, ordering merchandise, maintaining inventory levels, and display of all merchandise purchased for the store. The Assistant Buyer demonstrates the ability to plan, organize and execute, while using sound judgement, resourcefulness, and tact while upholding the image of the store. The individual employed in this position will approach obstacles with an open mind and enthusiasm for the relevant tasks. The Assistant Buyer has a refined level of style that reflects the style of the store.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

STORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist Department Manager with End of Month tasks.
  2. Assist Department Manager in maintaining a current Open to Buy Book.
  3. Ensure that all purchase orders are entered by month’s end.
  4. Participate in all meetings pertaining to the merchandising of the store.
  5. Responsible for learning and familiarizing self with reports that pertain to merchandising (inventory, sales, on order).
  6. Review reports with buyers and notify Department Manager of merchandise that is moving too slowly or extremely fast.
  7. Assist Department Manager with mark-downs of merchandise.
  8. Prepare and post a Past Cancel List(s) at the end of each month for shipping/receiving clerk.
  9. Assist in the placement of fill-in orders according to the inventory levels established by the Department Manager for each department. 
  10. Organize back stock as needed.
  11. Communicate with web and social media departments regarding products to be promoted
  12. Attend trunk shows and weekend events as well as support vendors.
  13. Spend time on sales floor to analyze consumer buying patterns.
  14. Analyze vendor performance to assist Department Manager in purchasing decisions.
  15. Assist Department Manager with the display of all merchandise in the store.

MARKET RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend market as needed.
  2. Prepare and bring necessary reports for productive appointments with major vendors as needed.
  3. Assist Department Manager with totaling orders and maintaining Open to Buy Books.
  4. Assist Department Manager with the selection of merchandise for all departments while maintaining the quality and style of the store.
  5. Acquire product knowledge to share with sales staff.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS

The environment for this position is a combination of time spent between a third-floor office, and two, separate bottom level sales floors. There are three flights of stairs at the Maverick that will be used multiple times daily by incumbent.

The incumbent while performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, presenting, administering, listening, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), driving, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, climbing, and reaching.

The incumbent for this position may operate any of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), computer terminal, and related printers.

The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate reading documents, reading sales sheets, detailed work, problem solving, reasoning, math, language, presentations, administering documents, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, and multiple concurrent tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum 2 years Retail, Fashion Merchandising/Buying Experience

TITLE: Shipping and Receiving Assistant

SALARY: Hourly

REPORTS TO: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

SHIFT: 8:30 am--5:00 pm, Monday-Friday Full Time / Part Time *Saturdays may be required during heavy freight periods and/or holiday seasons.

SUMMARY

The Shipping and Receiving Assistant assists the Retail Supervisor of Shipping and Receiving with all tasks associated with the receipt of merchandise as well as preparing and shipping goods out of the store. The incumbent in this position must be detail oriented and suited for a fast-paced work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

SHIPPING & RECEIVING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist with receiving and processing all inventory delivered to the store.
  2. Assist with unpacking, checking in, tagging, pricing, and re-ticketing all new merchandise.
  3. Assist with customer order ship outs, special orders, return to vendors (RTV), and customer repairs.
  4. Assist with freight expense control.
  5. Assist the Retail Supervisor of Shipping & Receiving with inventory control.
  6. Assist with the restocking of shipping and receiving supplies; notify supervisor when supplies are low.
  7. Assist in taking out trash and boxes daily.
  8. Assist in sweeping shipping and receiving area daily.
  9. Assist with putting away hangers daily.
  10. Complete other tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor or store manager, i.e. steaming and folding merchandise.

REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent for this position may operate any of the following: telephone, cellular telephone, copy and fax machines, adding machine (calculator), computer terminal, related printers, box cutters, and merchandise tagger guns.

The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate standing for prolonged periods of time in a small space. The Shipping & Receiving Assistant must have the ability to lift fifty pounds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 18 years of age. Must have basic computer skills, including typing, scanning, data entry. Knowledge of Outlook and Counterpoint are preferable. Must be customer centric. Retail Experience Preferred

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled sales associate to join our sales team! The ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic personality and a strong orientation with customer service/sales.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Greet and wait on all customers who enter the store.
  • Engage customers, ask probing questions, give intriguing demonstrations, add-on merchandise to sales, and successfully close sales.
  • Know and share information about the store and any current promotions/events. Demonstrate this knowledge by accurately communicating promotions/events, hours of operation and store information to our guests.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product knowledge, as well as trends and developments within the western retail industry.
  • Build, maintain, and work customer account directory with a systematic customer contact program by telephone, direct mail, and direct contact.
  • Call customers when out-of-stock or special order items are received.
  • Operate a standard point of sale system.
  • Clean and shape hats. Take measurements for custom hats and submit special orders.
  • Take measurements for custom boots and submit special orders.
  • Demonstrate commitment to making a conscientious effort to eliminate or reduce the risk of injury to our customers and personnel, damage or loss of our property, or the property of others.
  • Know the correct action to take in the event of an emergency, and demonstrate this knowledge by acting appropriately in the event of an emergency.
  • Keep store area re-stocked, sized, neat, and clean.
  • Attend mandatory monthly store meetings.
  • Assume other responsibilities as asked by the store sales managers.

Qualifications:

  • Must be customer-centric.
  • Must have a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb a flight of stairs on a regular basis, and two flights of stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to use a safety ladder/step-stool to remove and replace items hanging on walls or high shelves.
  • Ability to use a tool to retrieve hat boxes from high shelves.
  • Ability to climb in and out of window displays to retrieve and replace merchandise.
  • Ability to perform typical household duties such as, but not limited to: dusting, vacuuming, sweeping and cleaning.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
